Christmas
Promotion and Sales 2001 Evaluation.
- Although
sales seem to have been the same compared to 2000, many stores had to give
out various discounts.
- Both
$500 draws and bus travel from Mattice ("Lacroix Bus Services") have worked
well and should be repeated next year. A thank-you letter will be sent
to Lacroix Bus Services for their initiative.
- Prop.:
L. Charlebois, Supp.: E. Mignault; To ask that the municipality give free
parking beginning on the Appreciation weekend (beg. of December) up to
December 31st, in order to eliminate confusion for clients as to when they
should pay for parking spaces or not.
- Snow
removal was not done properly during the Holiday Season, specially during
the Midnight Madness weekend. There was no snow removal during this weekend
and it is the most busy weekend of the year for the majority of businesses
in Hearst. Also, there did not seem to have any snow removal on Sundays
in December, in the Downtown area, when many businesses are open.
- The
Secretary will ask a report from the Director of the Chamber of Commerce
on revenues and expenses for the Santa Claus Express activity. |
