Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

2009 Annual Meeting

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on February 11, 2010. Here were the subjects discussed:

1   Opening - Agenda.

2   Report of the meeting held on November 5, 2009.

- Minutes of the meeting held on November 5, 2009: Prop. By: Gérald G., Supp. By: Katrina C.;  CARRIED.


3   List of cheques and financial statements.

- The list of cheques from November 1st to December 31st, 2009 for the amount of $4,570.79 as well as the list of cheques from January 1st to January 31st, 2010 for the amount of $173.00 and the current financial statements were submitted for approval. 4   Budget 2010.

- Members decided to wait until all town expenses are entered into the system before deciding on the budget for 2010.


5   New directors and new member.

- Mike informed members that Estelle Mignault and Francine Lecours showed interest in joining the BIA Board of Directors. New member downtown: le Marché d'Ici.

Carnaval de Hearst.

- The BIA has contributed $500 in BIA coupons towards the snow sculpture contest.

Hearst Downtown-Highway 11/Front Street Corridor Community Improvement Plan.

- Mike showed members examples of new street lamps. The Historia example seems to interest the committee. Katrina Carrera explained the new developments and reported that all funds requested had been approved.

Agriva Market.

- Mike and Gérald gave a résumé of the last meeting with Agriva and reported that they informed them that the BIA would like them to come downtown with their kiosks. Tammy Coulombe, Agriva's spoke person, explained that Agriva is very interested in coming downtown and that there were only minor details still to finalize.

Weekends and Summer 2010.

- Board members decided to take another direction this year and cancel the Summer Festival. They suggested to hold activities, such as Agriva Market, car show, etc., on saturdays only during the summer, A letter will be sent to the municipality regarding this and to request the permission to close George Street during activity days.


10 Correspondance.

- Town of Hearst : nomination of Katrina Carrera as director of the BIA Board of Directors.
- Chamber of Commerce: 2010 membership: Carried unanimously.
- OBIAA Membership 2010: Carried unanimously.
- OBIAA National Conference: Katrina showed interest in attending, she will check the conference agenda before making her decision.
- FEO Festival and Events Ontario: Annual Conference.
- Multi-Formes Inc.: Info.
- RCC Merchant Alert: Email to alert merchants on a possible fraud. To be forwarded to all BIA members.
- Rory Gaudon - Entertainer: Info.
- Jason Bashnick - Fresh Air Cinema - The Outdoor Movie Company: Members requested that the Secretary ask for prices.
- Ron Guttman - magician: Info.
- Musician Group Newsletter: Info.


11 Autres sujets.

- Handicapped parking designated this winter: Mike mentioned that the Municipality should have waited until spring to designate handicapped parking spaces downtown and paint them blue at the same time. He also mentioned that the they should have asked the opinion of BIA members before designating handicapped parking spaces. Katrina will discuss this with the Municipality.

- Katrina reported that free parking on Friday nights and Saturdays will end at the end of March 2010. The Municipality reported that it is losing around $700 per month with this initiative. Katrina will get all the information on parking revenues to be distributed to members.

- Mike asked that the BIA web site be reviewed and changes done on some pages. Diane reported that once the new street lamps and improvements are done downtown, the web site will undergo a complete review and design change. Meanwhile, the changes will be done on the existing web site.
