Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

The minutes of previous meetings will be available in the Archives section of the site.

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on Thursday April 8th, 2005. Here were the subjects discussed:

1   Opening - Agenda.

- CARRIED.


2   New Member.

- Mike Wilson, President, welcomes Patricia Carrier, as a new member, representing the Pharmacie Brunet-Cantin, on the BIA Board.  Elise Beauvais is also interested in joining the Board.


3   Reports of the meeting held on March 3rd.

4   2005 Conference - Report from Mike and Gérald.

- Mike Wilson and Gérald Gaudreau gave a verbal report on the OBIAA Conference 2005 which they attended.  They were very enthusiastic and happy of all the information and ideas they gathered while in Toronto.  They described places they visited and people they met.  Mike and Gérald encouraged other members to attend the OBIAA conference next year and said that it is a one of a kind experience not to miss.  A written report will be presented at a future Board meeting. 


5   Parking Kiosk.

- Only one quote was received for repairs to be done to the parking kiosk, the one from Fern Girard Construction in the amount of  $852.79. 

- Prop. by: G. Gaudreau, Supp. by.: C. Fortin.  THAT the quote from Fern Girard Construction, in the amount of $852.79, for the repairs to be done at the parking kiosk be accepted as submitted.  CARRIED.


6   2005 Summer Festival and 25th Anniversary.

- Preparations for the organization of the 2005 Summer Festival and 25th Anniversary will begin as soon as the summer student is hired.  A list of ideas and suggestions has already been presented by Sylvie Otis, but sponsors and organizers still remain to be found.


7   Guest - Élise Beauvais (Scotia Bank).

- Élise did a presentation on the "Relay for life" event that will be held on June 17 and 18, 2005 and asked help from members during these two days.  Members interested can contact Élise at the Scotia Bank at 362-4363.  Sylvie Otis said she will be participating in the event by offering free massages to participants during these two days.

Newsletter - Examples.

- Thérèse submitted 4 examples of a newsletter and asked for Members approval on one of the design.  All members chose the one with the BIA picture in the background.  The first newsletter will be distributed to all BIA members during the next few days.

Hiring of a summer student.

- An ad for a Summer Festival Coordinator will be placed in the newspaper Le Nord and interviews will be conducted amongst those who apply for the position.

Correspondence.

- Email from Jay Cormier: Jay wishes to come back for another presentation this year, but members think that it would be better to find someone french as almost all kids coming to the festival are francophones.

Other subjects.

- "Pitch-In" Campaign: The "Pitch-In" campaign is already under way and Mike asks if some members would like to sit on the committee, but all members declined.

- Passport Tickets for Moose Festival: Estelle gives out 10 Passport tickets for the Moose Festival to each member for them to sell.

- Brochure: Daniel Sigouin suggests that a brochure be prepared in order for him to give out to people for promoting Hearst Downtown whenever he travels out of town during the year.
