Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on Thursday April 12th, 2007. Here were the subjects discussed:

1		Opening - Agenda. - The meeting was declared open at 7:39 a.m.  Agenda: - Prop. by: Gérald G., Supp. by: Sylvie O.;  CARRIED.
2		Report of the meeting held on March 8th, 2007. - Minutes of the meeting held on March 8th, 2007.  Prop.  by: Patricia M.-C., Supp. by: Gérald G.  CARRIED.
3		2006 Financial Statements as audited by Collins Barrow. - Thérèse presented the 2006 Financial Statements as audited by Collins Barrow.  She explained that following adjustments made by the accountant, the accumulated deficit has been reduced and constraints made on the 2006 budget created a surplus of $4,772 for 2006.  In spite of this surplus, members still wish to increase the 2007 budget by 10%.  A special meeting of the financial committee will be held to discuss budget items before submitting the final budget to the municipality.
4		List of cheques issued between March 1st and March 31st, 2007 and current financial statements. - The list of cheques issued between March 1st and March 31st, 2007 in the amount of $711.25 as well as the current financial statements were presented for approval.  Prop. by: Gérald G., Supp. by: Patricia M.-C. 5		Report on the OBIAA Conference by Mike and Gérald. - Mike and Gérald made a report on the OBIAA conference that they attended this year in Toronto.  Many ideas were taken from this conference and Mike and Gérald said that attending such a conference was beneficial for the BIA.
6		2007 Annual Meeting. - It was decided to hold the 2007 Annual Meeting on June 7, 2007, at 6:00 p.m., at the Companion restaurant.  Thérèse will invite a representative of the Bank of Canada to make a presentation on how to detect counterfeit money and how to deal with counterfeit money if we have some.  Shana Verrier, from the Chamber of Commerce, will also do a presentation on projects in progress and on the Hwy 11 Improvement Plan.  A newsletter will be distributed to all BIA members a couple of weeks before the event and tickets will be sold for the supper.
7		Banners. - Diane explained to members that custom banners with the BIA logo would be too expensive for the life expectancy of these banners and that it would be preferable to order already printed banners with Welcome and Bienvenue printed on it.  Members therefore decided to order banners already printed.
8		Correspondence - Resignation letter (Sylvie Leroux):  Sylvie Leroux has sent her letter of resignation from the board. - Ontario BIA Association (Newsletter): Info. - Bank of Canada: Brochure from the Bank of Canada on counterfeit money.  A representative from the Bank of Canada will be invited to the next Annual meeting to discuss this subject. - ABC Recreation (Price List): Info. - Classic Displays: Info.  - Toronto Fabricating & MFG.  CO: Info. - Zero Gravity Circus: Info. - Lisa Lindgren (Downtown Planters): Info. - Email from Édith Butler (show): Diane will inquire about prices.
9		Other subjects. - Alice Vendette - Flowers: Mrs. Vendette would like to know if the BIA will be ordering flowers from her this year.  Brenda R.  will make arrangements with her. - Summer student: An ad has been placed in the newspaper for a summer student to organize the Summer Festival and do other tasks downtown.  The student will also be doing various work for CommunicAction and Hearst Non-Profit. - Algoma train coalition: Shana invited members to the Algoma train coalition that will be held on April 22, 2007 at 8:00 at the Companion. - Summer Festival: Mario Villeneuve will be invited to the next meeting of the Board to discuss the possibility of organizing an activity in collaboration with the HOG
10		Adjournment and next meeting. - The next meeting of the Board will be held on May 10th, 2007 at 7:30 a.m. at the Companion.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
