Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on Thursday May 17th, 2007. Here were the subjects discussed:

1		Opening - Agenda. - The meeting was declared open at 7:38 a.m.  Agenda: - Prop. by: Gérald G., Supp. by: Sylvie O.;  CARRIED.
2		Report of the meeting held on April 12th, 2007. - Minutes of the meeting held on April 12th, 2007.  Prop.  by: Gérald G., Supp. by: Isabelle B.  CARRIED.
3		List of cheques issued between April 1st and April 30th, 2007 and current financial statements. - The list of cheques issued between April 1st and April 30th, 2007 in the amount of $3,094.23 as well as the current financial statements were presented for approval.  Prop. by: Sylvie O., Supp. by: Gérald G. CARRIED.
4		Summer Festival. - Mario Villeneuve, guest, reported that the HOG Committee would be interested in organizing an event in collaboration with the BIA during the Summer Festival, depending on what is already scheduled.  Mario also said that maybe HOG members already in town for Friday night could exhibit their motorcycles near the variety show.  He will discuss this further with Neil of the Bistro Ailleurs to see if he would be interested in setting up a patio in front of his bar and if there is a variety show, this would bring more people downtown.
5		2007 Annual Meeting. - Members decided on menu #6 for the meeting.  All members think that ordering pens with the BIA logo for the meeting is a good idea, this way we can order more and give out some at the NéORA conference in September.  Shana informed us that she will not be able to do a presentation at the annual meeting and that she will delegate this to someone else on the Improvement Committee.  Diane informed the Board that she will print the tickets for the annual meeting and that a newsletter will be distributed to all merchants this week.
6		Purchase of new benches. - Mike asked that the Treasurer include $4,000 in the budget for the purchase of new benches.  Diane informed members that the budget had already been submitted to the Municipality, but that some items could be joined for this purpose.
7		Front Street Improvements. - The Front Street Improvement Committee will meet on May 24.  Street lights downtown are a  priority as Marc reported that existing street lights are no longer safe and that the Municipality will have no choice but to disconnect them if nothing is done soon.
8		Pelouse Cantin. - A quote from Pelouse Canting in the amount of $975 plus GST was received for the maintenance of trees downtown for the summer of 2007.  Prop.  by: Gérald G., Supp. by: Isabelle  B.  CARRIED
9		New Businesses. - Mike would like that all new businesses downtown be sent a welcome package like we used to send before.  Diane will take care of it.
10		Other Subjects. - Michel Blanchette will be proposed to the Municipality as new director of the BIA Executive Committee.  Michel reported that he will do draws in BIA money once a month in his restaurant.  Members do not object to this idea.  Marc reported that Mrs. Sheila Lamontagne received some comments regarding businesses that did not have access for the handicapped.  He suggested to invite Mr. Adrien Veilleux, from Nord-Aski, in order to inquire about available programs for this.
11		Correspondence. - We received a letter from CINN-FM radio thanking us for our donation towards their ice sculpture contest along with photos of the winner.
12		Adjournment and next meeting. - No meeting was scheduled for the next weeks as the annual meeting will take place on June 7, 2007.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:13 a.m.
