Round
Table on tourism.
-
Gérald informed members about the latest developments
on tourism and said that there was good interest from the
population. Ideas submitted were: How to increase tourism
in our region; How to better greet tourists; How to increase
train usage, as train usage has decreased considerably and
we risk loosing this service. There is no welcome sign along
the tracks and it is very badly maintained. This item is
part of the Front & George Street Revitalization Project.

Free
weekend parking.
- Mike suggested that
parking be free downtown on weekends. After discussion,
members voted against this suggestion. Marc mentioned that
the Municipality had already denied such a request as there
would be no control on who would use these free parking
spaces. Also, if parking revenues go down, the Municipality
would have no choice but to cut on some expenses.
