Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

2009 Annual Meeting

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on August 20, 2009. Here were the subjects discussed:

1   Opening - Agenda.

2   Report of the meeting held on April 2, 2009.

3   List of cheques and financial statements.

- The list of cheques from April 1st to July 31st, 2009 for the amount of $13,736.90 as well as current financial statements were submitted for approval. Prop. By: Marc D., Supp. By: Sylvie M. CARRIED 


4   Summer Festival Report.

- The Summer Festival generated a profit of $1,737,59 this year. There were less expenses for employees due to the bad temperature. Next year, members would like to introduce a new format for the festival. There will be no three days festival but instead activities will be held on Saturday only and the street will be closed only on that day. We will try to meet with Agriva Market to inquire about a possible fresh market downtown during this day.


5   Format Jeunes Calendar.

- Annual ads: Members agreed to publish two ads in the calendar this year; one in July and one in December for Midnight Magic.

Bingo Ball .

- Annual publicity in the amount of $75, members agreed again this year.

Christmas Decorations .

- Gérald inquired about the purchase of new LED lights for our Christmas decorations and asked if we should wait for the new street lamps to be installed. Members would like to know how much lights is needed before making their decision.

Correspondence.

- Town of Hearst - Free Parking: Members asked that a letter be sent to the Town of Hearst requesting that free parking be permanently instated downtown on Friday nights and Saturdays as customers are really appreciating this initiative.

Other Subjects.

- Improvement Plan - Priority is still downtown street lights. A meeting was held at the beginning of August and the Improvement Plan Committee is now looking for quotes for new street lights.

- Loitering - Patricia M-C. informed members that the Pharmacy has received many complaints from customers saying that they felt intimidated by people hanging around all day downtown and asked if something could be done to prevent this. Members agreed that sometimes people hanging around were causing problems for customers and asked Marc to inquire about the possibility of moving the public phone elsewhere and also to inquire about the camera system that was supposed to be installed downtown. Mike will also contact the OPP and ask them to do more patrols downtown.
