This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

3   Correspondence.

- REFNO:  Éco-Nord Conference, November 24th to 27th, 2004; Info. Filed.
- Carl Kamuski:  Congratulations on our Web site; Info. Filed.


4   Delegation.

- Mrs. Geneviève Proulx, REFNO:  Mrs. Proulx presented the objectives of the "Regroupement des festivals (francophones et bilingues) du nord de l'Ontario" as well as the benefits and services for their members.  She also presented a 2005 calendar prepared by REFNO, in which our Summer Festival is shown, but unfortunately on the wrong dates.  At the same time, she invited BIA members to the "Eco-Nord" conference that will be held from November 24th to 27th in Thunder Bay.  Finally, to answer questions from some members, Mrs. Proulx explained the scope of this regrouping (all Northern Ontario, from Quebec's frontier to Manitoba).

- Mr. Daniel Sigouin, EDC, Hearst: Mr. Sigouin explained the new structure of the Economic Development Corporation as well as the numerous projects in which the Corporation is involved.  Those of interest to the Hearst BIA are: Welcome center for ACR tourists, maintenance and expansion program for businesses, revitalization of rural economy, entrepreneurship week, foreign investments, restructuring of the Chamber of Commerce, Moose Festival and DeBeers mine.


5   Promotion Humor Festival 2004.

- Estelle Mignault is very satisfied of the participation and of the unfolding of this event. 33 businesses and enterprises from the Hearst Downtown participated and contributed.  People have also participated in the game/contest.  This activity paid for itself.  Posters have been picked up and they will be used again next year.  It is recommended to redo this activity next year.


6   2005 Calendar CCEF.

- Advertising for the 2005 Summer Festival (25th Edition); Two ads will be placed in the calendar; in December and in July, at the cost of $240 for both.


7   2005 Summer Festival.

- In 2005, it will be the 25th Edition of the festival.  The President requested that at least $5,000 be allowed for this Summer Festival.  In 2005, the Festival will be held from Thursday July 7th to Saturday July 9th.

- The President will prepare a card and a package for two new businesses in the Downtown area:  "Essentiel" at the  Galerie Larose and "Ronda Home Decor".
