This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive comittee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

August 9th , 2001 - The BIA executive's monthly meeting took place on August 9th, 2001. Here are the minutes from said meeting.

1   Opening / Agenda.

- Prop. : G. Gaudreau, Supp. : F. Lecours. ADOPTED. Adding items 11 and 12.


2   Pecuniary interests.

- None. 


3   Report on July 6, 2001 meeting.

- Prop. L. Charlebois, Supp. G. Gaudreau. ADOPTED.


4   Correspondence.

- Letters from Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club: Filed. 


5   Meeting with the Municipality.

- The Municipal Council wishes to meet with the Board concerning downtown parking. Councillor Brochu says that BIA should receive a letter on this matter shortly.


6   Summer Festival Report and Financial Report (V. Vachon).

- The coordinator stresses that three inflatables require too much work. On a financial aspect, the Festival was kept within the allowed budget. Incredible Wildlike was very popular. There should be something similar next year, but earlier in the evening to allow people to shop after.


7   BIA Financial Statement and List of Cheques.

- Financial Statement is not available, therefore the secretary gives a verbal report. Prop. L. Charlebois, Supp. M. Wilson. That the list of cheques from January 1st to July 31st, 2001 be hereby adopted as presented. ADOPTED . 


8   Improvement work for 2001.

- The secretary presents a report on work done so far. Prop. M. Wilson, Supp. D. Larochelle. That quotes be asked for the painting of street lamps and purchase of new Christmas decorations. ADOPTED.


9   Sponsor request and participation at the Nord-Aski conference on Regional Economic Development, October 19th to 21th, 2001.

- Prop. L. Charlebois, Supp. D. Larochelle. That the Hearst BIA sponsors ($300) for the Saturday banquet at the Nord-Aski Conference on Regional Economic Development that will be held from October 19th to 21th 2001 and buys two tickets to assist at the said conference ($200). - ADOPTED


10   Back to School Sale.

- Prop. M. Wilson, Supp. D. Larochelle. That the Back to School Sale be held from August 30th to September 1st, 2001. Streets will not be closed, but free parking will be available through the Downtown area. The basketball team would like to do their tournament like last year. The Board has no objections if the Municipality accepts to close George Street from 9th to the Northern Season to the west, during the tournament, and that they endorse the insurance for this kind of activity. - ADOPTED.


11   Outside Patios.

- Daniel Larochelle explains that many downtowns, among which Rouyn, Quebec and North Bay, Ontario, allow the installation of patios on their parking spaces, in front of stores, to install some tables, flowers and decorations and where are sold refreshments. These bring like to the downtown area and are very appreciated by the customers. More information will be gathered from North Bay and the Municipality will be approached.


12   CCEJ Calendar:

- Prop. M. Wilson, Supp. L. Charlebois. - That two 2002 calendar advertisement at $105 each be bought from the CCEJ and that said advertisements be placed in July (Festival) and December (Christmas Activities). - ADOPTED
