October 4 th , 2001 - The BIA executive's monthly meeting took place on October 4th, 2001. Here are the minutes from said meeting.

1   Opening / Agenda.

- Prop. M. Wilson, Supp. L. Charlebois. ADOPTED.


2   Hearst Downtown Parking.

- Prop. M. Wilson, Supp. R. Gratton. Considering that meter usage for controling trafic in the Downtown area is a source of irritation for customers of the area; and

- Considering that the Hearst BIA Board thinks that it would be preferable to use other trafic control methods in the Downtown area; and

- Considering that before removing parking meters from the Downtown area, it would be wise to conduct a survey during which no parking fees would be imposed;

- Be it resolved that a recommendation be made to the Municipality to conduct a survey on parking fees on Fridays and Satudays, during the day, for a trial period of six months, from November 2001 to April 2002, during which data would be collected in order to evaluate the impact of such trafic control method and to determine if parking meters are still justifiable. - ADOPTED. 


3   Halloween 2001 .

- Security will be assured by the firemen, bylaw officers and the OPP during trick or treat night. There will be a best costume contest. This activity will be advertised.


4   Advertisement on Portable School of Collège Boréal.

- Prop. E. Mignault, Supp. R. Gratton. That the Hearst BIA sponsors the Collège Boréal portable school in the amount of $60 in return for advertisement on the said school. ADOPTED.


5   Promotion of Lacroix Bus Tour Travel Package, from Hornepayne and Longlac to Hearst, during the former Canadians visit, on December 15th, 2001.

- The Hearst BIA merchants could offer discounts to those coming from out of town and participating in this travel package. Volunteers could gather discount coupons from local merchants and distribute them on the buses.


6   Nord-Aski Conference .

- Mike Wilson and Daniel Larochelle are willing to represent the BIA at this conference.
