This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

1   Opening - Agenda.

- Opening at 7:35 am.


2   Minutes of meeting held on September 4th, 2003.

- Not available.  Will be presented at the next regular meeting.  The President made a résumé of discussions and decisions taken during this meeting.


3   Correspondence.

- None.


4   Board Secretary

- Fanny Joanis is no longer interested to do this job as she is working more hours at her present job.  Louis Corbeil will continue to act as Secretary for the Board.


5   Photos BIA - Ministry of Northern Development.

- Members have no objection that the Ministry uses the BIA web site photos on their site.


6   Draw with CINN.

- Letter from CINN: Prop. by: L. Charlebois, Supported by: G. Gaudreau; THAT the BIA accepts to participate in the Lotto-épicerie draw by giving a prize of 500$ in purchase coupons to be used in the Downtown area.  Carried.


7   Christmas Decorations 2003 and Christmas Tree at the Intersection of 9th and George.

- Report from Gérald Gaudreau; Following a visit of the two buildings on which the christmas tree is attached at the corner of 9th and George St. and after consultation with the Municipality's CAO, it seems that there will be no problems to attach the cables higher in order to raise the christmas tree to a safer height for security reasons (drivers view obstructed).  The Municipality will take care of this work.  There will be a "bis" on Sunday October 19 at 11:00 am at the airport hangar to install lights and others.


8   Presentation - Julie Larose.

- Deferred to next regular meeting.


9   New Autumn Banners.

- They are in and already installed.


10 Web Page Hits.

- Report, end of September, 2003; approximately  500 hits for a total of 12,640 visitors to date.


11 Other Subjects.

- Activities for December 2003:

  • Santa Claus Express, Sunday November 30.  Boarding at 9:30 a.m.
  • Appreciation Days from December 4 to 6 and Midnight Magic at Midnight on December 5.
  • Free Parking:  Weekends of December 4 to 6, December 11 to 13, and December 18 to 20, as well as on December 22, 23 and 24 and on all Sundays in December.
  • Opening Hours: Monday to Wednesday - 9:00am à 5:30pm, Thursdays and Fridays, Monday December 22 and Tuesday December 23 - 9:00am to 9:00pm and Wednesday December 24 - 9:00am to 4:00pm.
  • Closed on December 25, 26 and 28 as well as on January 1 and 2.  Back to regular opening hours on January 3, 2004.
  • Santa Claus at Hearst Public Library on Sunday December 14 from Noon to 2:00pm and $500 draw at 2:05pm.
  • Possibility of a singing choir during the CINN Midnight Magic.
  • Suggestion: Gift Rally
- Hood for Parking Metres:
  • Estelle will check if plastic bags are available.  To print on every bag:  Centre-ville Downtown Ville de Hearst Free Parking Stationnement Libre with BIA and Town logos.  Print 500 bags.


- Letter to Canada Post:

  • Letter against the sale of Christmas cards at the local post office with copies to the Municipality, local post office, Chamber of Commerce, Federal MP, BIA Timmins and OBIAA.
- Bis for Christmas Decorations:
  • Bis will he held on Sunday October 19, 2003 at 11:00am.
- Tree shelter broken:
  • Louis will ask M. Pitre to repair it.
- Ontario Economic Chamber Phoenix Award:
  • An add will be placed in Le Nord congratulating Fleurs Phoenix and Phem Computing for their nomination.
