This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

2007 Annual Meeting

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on Wednesday November 7, 2007. Here were the subjects discussed:

1   Opening - Agenda.

2   Report of the meeting held on October 4th, 2007.

3   List of cheques and current financial statements.

- Not available at this time.


4   Midnight Magic.

- Midnight Magic will be held on November 30th, 2007.  Mike did an interview with Francis Bouchard, from Le Nord and it appeared in the newspaper on October 31st.  The Hearst High School choral will entertain customers on Friday night from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight.  The calendar of activities, the newsletter and tickets for the draws will be distributed to merchants this coming Friday.  The calendar will also be posted in Le Nord newspaper on November 14th, 21st and 28th.  Diane will send information to CINN-FM radio in order for them to air them around November 22nd.  Mona Habel is volunteering to find a Santa for Midnight Magic evening.  Shana also informed members that, on the same night, the Light Festival will be launched at 7:00 p.m.


5   Santa Claus Express.

- Santa Claus Express will be in town on December 2nd.  There will be five cars for a total of 250 children.  Diane said that she will take care of the secretarial and office part, etc., but that she will not be able to take care of volunteers.  An ad will be posted in Le Nord newspaper on November 14th and in the Weekender on November 16th.  Shana will try to find someone to impersonate Santa on the train.  The Chamber of Commerce or Sylvie Mousseau will take care of volunteers.  Santa will also be at the Public Library on December 16th.  After discussion, members decided to give out Christmas head bands and chocolate calendars to children.

Parking meters.

-  It was decided to send a memo to all merchants asking them to decorate a parking meter or a street lamp in front of their business for the Holidays.

Correspondence.

- Letter from Community Transport (Roger Sigouin) - A letter will be sent to Mr. Sigouin to suggest that a billboard be installed on the community bus where we could advertise our events. This would serve as our contribution.
- Survey Chamber of Commerce - Members did not wish to participate.

- RDÉE Ontario (Workshops) Francine Lecours: Info
- Festivals & Events Ontario (2007 fall & Winter Celebrations Guide available online) - Diane will post our info into the guide.
- Les Attractions Gastoni Ltée - Diane will check for a magician for next year's Summer Festival.

Other subjects.

- Web Portal, please visit Hearst.ca , new design
- Marc mentioned that he suggested to the Municipality that they install big speakers on a vehicle in order to transmit information to the population, such as during emergencies or special events.
- Diane suggested that meetings be held on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays from now on.  Nobody objected.
- Gérald thanked everyone for their help in repairing Christmas decorations.
- To be included in Work in Progress: Free parking on weekends.
- Diane mentioned that everything went well during Halloween and that more than 800 children and youngsters visited stores downtown.
