Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on November 6, 2008. Here were the subjects discussed:

1		Opening - Agenda. - The meeting was declared open at 7:40 a.m..  Agenda: - Prop. by: Gérald G., Supp. By: Marc D.;  CARRIED.
2		Report of the meetings held on September 11 and October 2, 2008. - Minutes of the meetings held on September 11 and October 2, 2008: Prop. By: Sylvie M., Supp. By: Gérald G.;  CARRIED.
3		List of cheques and current financial statements. - Not available.
4		Parking meter decoration contest. - After a lengthy discussion, Board members decided to go ahead with the contest. Prizes will be $75, $50 and $25. CommunicAction will take care of the ads for the local newspaper and radio. People will have until November 24 to register for the contest.
5		Christmas. - Members asked Diane to call the Hearst Power Distribution Company to require that Christmas decorations be installed. She will also contact Hearst High School for the choir and will prepare a draft of the Christmas calendar and newsletter. Members also decided to do the $1,000 draw again this year, there will be 2 draws of $500 each during December.
6		Community Improvement Plan. - Mike reported that the committee for the Improvement Plan met on November 4 to revise recommendations brought forward and that a public meeting will be held on November 17, at the Centre Cartier, to inform the public about these recommendations.
7		New executive members . - The BIA is currently looking for new executive members.
8		Correspondence. - Corporation of the Town of Hearst - answer to our letter sent to the Mayor concerning street lights downtown which are very damaged and some even dangerous. - Hearst Festival of Lights: Shana reported that the Hearst Hearst Festival of Lights will be held on December 5, 2008. - Electromega: Presentation at the Hearst Town Hall - La Centrale: volunteers available - OBIAA - Postcard from OBIAA to promote their annual conference which will be held from March 29 to 31, 2009 - Catalogues - banners and Christmas decorations - Letter from CINN-FM Radio - Board members approved the donation of $500 again this year against the 3rd prize for the snow sculpture contest.
9		Other Subjects. - Shana reported that Santa Claus Express will be on November 30; with only 4 wagons. Tickets to board the express will be available at the following locations: Tourist Centre, Journal Le Nord, Marybelle and at the Caisse Populaire of Mattice. She also reported that everything was going very well! - Shana explained that the Town of Hearst has registered for the Hockeyville 2009 contest. We have to register and write our stories about hockey in order to have a chance to win the contest for 2009.
