Evaluation
of Santa Claus Express, Midnight Madness and Special Booklet in Le Nord.
- These
activities all went well in spite of some unexpected circumstances. 400
youths cramed themselves in Santa Claus Express to make the trip.
- Midnight
Madness weekend also went well. Merchants report sales comparable to last
year. There was a good participation to the $500 draws downtown. However,
it was deplorable that streets were not plowed prior, as there was a lot
of people downtown.
- The
Special Booket in Le Nord was of good quality. However, there were two
ads in the booklet coming from businesses outside the downtown limits. |

in English in Le Nord.
- An
ad in Le Nord, coming from Timmins, inviting people to shop outside town,
was printed only in English. The Board believed that Le Nord published
only French ads. Most of the local merchants accept this policy. A letter
will be sent to Le Nord asking to clarify their policy concerning ad language
in their newspaper. |

Other
Subjects - Web Site.
- Some
members deplore the fact that the web site is not kept up to date regularly.
After discussion, the Board asks the Secretary to prepare an offer for
keeping the site up to date and also add a news page, where the correspondence
could be posted, and all other current information. This page would serve
to better inform the members, merchants and entrepreneurs of Hearst.
- The
Secretary indicates that the web site was already up to date and that the
minutes of the current meeting would be posted on it. The Secretary stresses
that they could save up to $50 per month for hosting and domain name by
changing servers. The Secretary will present the Board with an offer at
the next meeting. |
