Meetings

This page will contain the minutes of the BIA's last executive committee meeting, along with the agenda of the upcoming meeting a few days prior to said meeting. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month.

The last BIA executive's monthly meeting was held on Thursday December 11th, 2003. Here are the subjects discussed:

1		Opening - Agenda.
2		New Council Representative. - The President welcomes the new Council representative, Mr. Marc Dufresne.
3		Report of the meeting held on November 6th,  2003. - Members read the report.  Marc Dufresne says that it would be a good idea if Downtown stores offered discount coupons or other form of discount during hockey tournaments.
4		Correspondence. - Canada Post President; subject: Greeting cards sold at the Post Office: Filed. - OBIAA; subject: 2004 Conference from March 21st to 23rd, in Waterloo: The cost for participating will be considered in the 2004 Budget.
5		Report: 2003 Santa Claus Express. - The Secretary presented this report.  It is suggested that the minimum age be lowered to 3 years old, as there was less participation during the last two years. (333 children this year).
6		Youth Online Contest. - Details and rules: It is suggested to post an ad in Le Nord newspaper to encourage participation.
7		2003 Christmas Decorations; Christmas Tree. - Letter from B.H. Martin; According to Mr. Martin, Engineer, it would cost us between $20,000 to $50,000 to insure a safe and secure installation of the christmas tree at the intersection of 9th and George street.  The Board will look into the possibility of installing some other kind of decoration (a star) at this intersection.
8		Priorities 2004. - Differed to the next meeting.
9		Web Page Hits. - Report as at December 8th, 2003: 13,798 "hits" since the implementation of the site.
10		Other subjects. - Delegation from Julie Larose: The Secretary will invite Mrs. Larose to the next meeting. - Old Christmas Garlands: The President suggests that, next year, the old Christmas garlands be installed on street lamps. - Peddlers: The Secretary will verify municipal by-laws concerning permits accorded to peddlers. - Next meeting: As the first Thursday of January is on January 1st, the next meeting will be held on January 8th, 2004.
